Grandma

Have you ever had a someone in your life that when you saw them no matter how bad your day, week, month, year was going you were always glad to see them. They always brought a smile to your face, it made you feel that everything was going to be okay and that better days were ahead. You knew the drama she had survive and if she could overcome those negative experience you would also triumph. I trusted her one hundred percent as far as human beings go. I could talk to her about everything and anything , she would listen and give me a little bit of her input. That person for me was my grandmother, her presence kept our family together. She was a loved by her husband. She was a good wife, a good mother, an excellent grandmother, and a good great grand mother.

Drama Free

Living drama free is there such a thing. It seems everywhere I god drama seems to follow me. It does not matter how hard I try to avoid it or how fast I run, it always seems to catch up with me. I try hard to avoid people who can seem to control their emotions especially when they like to fly off the handle for no reason. I try hard to keep everyone at bay family, friends and co-workers but it seems that I always get caught up in their drama.

Changing Ways

Are you going to ever change your ways?
Are you going to get off the internet?
Are you going to stop waisting your time and everyone else's by constantly interupting people and asking the same questions over and over again?
Are you going to get off the phone and do your share of the work load?
Are you going to clean up your cubicle without being told so?
Someone is not going to enjoy another Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Holiday and Birthday Thanks to you.

Alternative to peace

The last time I went to Israel we were told not to wonder because of bomb threats and everywhere we went it seems police was always in sight and driving with their emergency sirens. The tension and bitterness between the Jewish and Muslim population was unbearable. It seems that every country must make a choice side with either group of people, that will not resolve the issue or bring peace. Like the South Africans on chapter twelve, each group needs to come together in talk about the past violence, brutality and unfair treatment of one another even thought it means exposing many open wounds. Hopefully they will come to the conclusion, that continuing this way infinitely, will not stop the blood shed or violence. They need to come together heal the past, share the land, and set a great example for future generations.

Forum

There is three forum that I feel makes since for bringing people together:
The olympics in the spirit of athletic competition.
Music because it draws the audience and unites them with the musician to share their common love of harmony. Education because it brings people from all over the world together in the spirit of learning new information so that they can improve thir lives and the lives of others around them.

Skeptical

My friend and her neighbor decided not to involve the zoning board when redoing her fence because she shook her neighbors hand and agreed to rebuild over the old fence. Her husband put up a new fence and her neighbors sharing the fence complimented the great job and then decide now they wanted to pay $1000 to clearly define the property lines. My friends ask for my oppinion, and I told her that before putting up the new fence I would of paid the money and did the zoning. I simply explained that I have a hard time trusting people, they might turn on you at any time and make your life difficult when given the opportunity.

Roadblocks

Do you avoid them at all cost?
Do you go around them?
What purpose do they Serve?
Do they test your patience?
Are they a test from God?
Do they get on your nerves?
Do they keep you from reaching your destiny?
Are you prepared for them?
Do they turn your life upside down?
Do they keep you in a state of chaos?
How quickly do you recover from them?

Bitching session

It seems lately that the only to show empathy towards my co-workers at work is to join in the bitching sessions and sometimes I am not in the mood. You have to be quick, rude, bold, loud and if you can be funny even better when it comes to making negative comments, I don't want to cross that line sometimes because I feel that it will interfere with my productivity and work ethics. Where would the bitching session be without character assasination of another employee sometimes I cannot join in because I feel things will come back to hunt me. I try to give everybody a couple of breaks at least three, before jumping in the negative band wagon. Do to the fact that I am constantly changing jobs, I try to maintain a level of professional boundaries.

Kicking I

Unforgettable lessons and unforgettable people. They was a man who work for a large well known company for over thirty years, a health insurance company mind you. He was out on medical leave for a month having surgery and when he came back they had shut down his whole department, laid off everyone and he was told that he still had a job and could keep one employee an assistant and giving a budget. My friend being a young and impressionable saw how everyone was treated taught the assistant position offer through and ask for a pink slip. Mary was a recent graduate, smart, resourceful and brilliant she did not want settle and commit to the company, income or position and beside her mother was ill and would rather help her out. Their was a man who started working for a company, the outgoing manager did not trained him and wanted nothing to do with him. Five years later he was still on the job working with a lot of "lazy temps" who were not well invested in the company or department. His wife was battling cancer and he ask to work part time in the office and majority of time work at home, he was denied because he did not know the right people or have the right connections. Hi wife died a year later and all John had was his job and his on going battle with diabetes. One year later after the death of his wife he was trying to put together a team of hard working permanent employees they fired him and one day later on a weekend away with friends doing his favorite activity he died of a heart attack.

Kicking II

Majority of the population can prescribe to kicking your co-workers when they are down. Prime example I came back to work from having emergency surgery three months later to find out the people rarely change. Everyday was a daily struggle of prayer to get through the work day, on the outside I look the picture of full recovery doing my best and getting the job done. My supposed friend and fellow co-worker who covered one of my work load while I was sick and never let me forget it decided to a dump her deadline on me last minute. To object is to be considered a non-team player so I proceeded trying to make my deadline successfully in the meanwhile she was trying to screw with the hardware so she can mess up my queue and triple my work load at the end of the day. I am so glad that God was on my side this time, I had miss the last mail call so I had to take the letters to the post office myself.

Venting

Venting in the work place can helpful or hurtful to your career depending on how and when you do it. People vent some time about they work load, other employees, other department, procedures, computer systems software and hardware. Mentally venting helps us to get out our frustration instead of holding it in but to much of it can be harmful by keeping to much in our angry place. To much venting in the work place can bring every body down and set in motion a negative work atmosphere. I do vent sometime, with only a certain selected few that I can trust some of the time. I cannot vent all the time and can't stand to hear people vent all the time because it depresses and I need a break sometimes from all the negativity.

Balancing Act

Maintaining a balance to nice not nice enough, good morning to everyone some respond others don't, whether it is a good morning or not. I use the good morning as a signal to myself to leave my personal problems behind and enter the work force and treat everyone with respect and dignity. Empathise or drown in empathy for fellow co-workers and you never get any work done at my current company it feels the crisis never stops including my own. I am particular about who I empathise people on my floor that I see everyday and who make positive or negative impact in my life.

Working Underpressure

Not everyone works well underpressure some people stay strong, some crumble, some panic and some freeze. Myself I work well underpressure I stay strong, maintain a steady work level until the crisis is over. I also make mental notes and keep on top of things so that when this work pressure comes up again I will be better prepared and organize. The older I get the harder that I find it to cope with managers that wait to the last minute and throws they worker into pressure deadlines when they could of kept things organize enough to make the work flow smoother. Once in a while I dont mind working underpressure it keeps the blood pumping but not all the time. They was a women that I use to work with she hated when her boss gave her a last minute deadline, she use to cry about it, get upset and go into a negative renting, yes she crumbled. She made things worst by complainin, wining and made everybody around her miserable and giving them her work. One guy that I work with would freeze, panic and complain for hours and I don't think that help him meet his deadline any faster. The best thing to do when you are ask constantly by your boss to do things last minute is to be honest with he or she about work load and expectations and what you can or cannot accomplish. Prepare and anticipate for the worst and make the best of a bad situation by being strong and keeping with a organize work ethics.

WEI FIRST LEANRNING

Every new job usual start up majority of the people are nice until the gloves come off and some are civil while they try to figure you out or what angle to work you. I come in with my education and experience trying to prove myselt and trying to learn everybodies name. I try to learn how to do my job, how to work the computer program software that they use, how to master the technical aspect and mundane repetative aspect of my job. I work the impossibe task by managing it and keeping it orgarnize but I have as hard time letting it go once the work is undercontrol. The people in the job I find are the hardest thing to deal with, some of them go out of the way to let you know that they don't like you by excluding from certain events. They try to get your opinion and to join in they gossip parties and clicks. They surprise you with their many tatics and antics and they manage to always do somethingto let your know that they are human beings and cannot be trusted and they must be kept at bay at all times.

Gathering in Groups

Since the first day of our prosem class we have been gathering in groups of twenty, ten, fours, threes and twos to introduce ourselves and to talk about our goals. I ususally feel timid and uncomfortable around an unknown group of people. My tendency is to ramble on when talking to a unfamilar group. The more classes that I attend and particiapate in the more comfortable I feel speaking out. It's nice to see many of my classmates doing the same, taking initiave and talking more, approaching each other with ideas and questions.

Working Monday

Majority of my work experience is with non-profit human service company in the finance department. Currently I am working at a corporate office envirolment cubicle setting, usually I stay away from working at he corporate office for severall reasons. I like working for non-profit because at the end of the day and year profit does not dictate every aspect of the company. The human service usually attract some what compassionate and carrying people. The need to care and put the clientel needs first keeps things in a positive balance keeps every body in their tose and busy.

Learning is fun & fundamental

My first day in class, it was great meeting everyone and learning about their goals and what they hope to accomplish by attending Cambridge College. I learn so much when Mr. James Derosier came to speak to our class regarding goal setting and taking actions to make those goals a reality. He help me to face milestone in my life with hope and optimism. With his advice on time management and making the most of our time he also help me to there and support a fellow coworker in crisis.
